2025 Inductees

Carolyn Oubre Maggio, RPhCarolyn Oubre Maggio, RPh ('63)

Carolyn was a trailblazer in Louisiana pharmacy. As a pharmacy student, she received the “Most Outstanding Freshman” Award in 1960 and “Outstanding Senior Woman” Award for 1962-1963. She also served as president of Kappa Epsilon. Carolyn made history as the first woman named Louisiana Pharmacist of the Year (1989) by the Louisiana Pharmacist Association (LPA). Throughout her career, she held key leadership roles at the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, shaping and implementing programs like Medicaid, Prospective Drug Utilization Review (ProDUR), and Louisiana Children’s Health Insurance (LaCHIP). She leaves a legacy defined by visionary leadership, tireless service to the citizens of Louisiana, and a deep loyalty to her colleagues and the profession of pharmacy. Her influence continues to shape pharmacy practice in our state and beyond.


Marty R. McKay, RPh

Marty R. McKay, RPh ('74)

Marty has been a cornerstone of Louisiana pharmacy for over 50 years. From serving patients at Pearson Drugs in Lecompte, LA, to shaping policy on the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy, Marty’s impact is profound. Honored with awards like Louisiana Pharmacist of the Year (1997), the Bowl of Hygeia (2016), and the Board of Pharmacy’s Distinguished Service Award, he exemplifies the spirit of service that defines the profession. Marty is a generous contributor to the College of Pharmacy’s Dufilho Society—helping to support student achievements and innovation in the College's pursuit of excellence.


Peggy Van, RPh

Peggy Van, RPh ('73)

Peggy is well-known in Louisiana pharmacy, with decades of service across community, hospital, and relief settings. A passionate advocate for women in pharmacy, she is a founding member of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Women in Pharmacy “Wall of Women.” Her involvement in organized pharmacy through the years is remarkable. She has held multiple leadership roles with the Louisiana Pharmacists Association (LPA) (president twice) and the Fifth District Pharmacy Association. Peggy’s many honors—including LPA’s Pharmacist of the Year, Merck Outstanding Leadership Award, and the ߲Ƶ College of Pharmacy’s Meritorious Achievement Award—reflect her lifelong dedication to patient care and professional excellence.
