In the College of Arts, Education, and Sciences, we are dedicated to the unique success and academic excellence of each and every student who walks through our doors.

We are made up of four academic units: the School of Education, dedicated to the preparation of outstanding teachers; the School of Humanities, studying the nuance and significance of history, languages, and communication; the School of Sciences, searching for solutions to problems in the natural world; and the School of Visual and Performing Arts, where vibrant performances and artwork challenge and inspire us.Ìý

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Foundation honors Sharon Griffith Turrentine for creation of $2 million super endowed chair

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Foundation held a reception on April 9, 2025, to celebrate the creation of the Sharon Griffith Turrentine Super Endowed Chair in the School of Visual and Performing Arts. The $2 million endowment was made possible by a $1,000,000 generous donation from Sharon Griffith Turrentine and her husband, David Turrentine. The º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Foundation added matching funds of $200,000 and submitted a competitive proposal to the Louisiana Board of Regents Sponsored Program for a match of $800,000. The endowment will provide funding for the expansion of educational opportunities in the School of Visual and Performing Arts.

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Percussion Ensemble and Bayou Steel present upcoming concerts

Descriptionº¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ School of Visual & Performing Arts premier percussion ensembles, Bayou Steel and º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Percussion Ensemble (º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµPE), are thrilled to announce their highly anticipated Spring semester concerts. These captivating events promise to bring evenings of incredible talent, infectious energy, and exciting arrangements of tunes audience members may know and love.

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ hosts annual Region III Science and Engineering Fair

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ hosted the 71st annual Region III Science and Engineering Fair on February 28, 2025. The fair featured 85 projects from 106 students representing nine schools across the region. First place winners in each division were eligible to compete in the state fair. The event provides students with an opportunity to hone their science skills and connect with peers to share what they are learning.

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ School of VAPA presents Little Shop of Horrors, Mar. 27-30

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) presents the musical Little Shop of Horrors, March 27-30, at Brown Auditorium, 4001 Desiard St., on the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ campus. Show times for Thursday, March 27, through Saturday, March 29, are 7:00 p.m. The show will close with a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday, March 30. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ faculty and staff. º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ students get in free with ID. Tickets are available online at https://bit.ly/ulm_little_shop or at the door prior to each performance.
