º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ professors publish article in "Journal of Paleontology"
Dr. Lloyd Glawe, retired professor from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Biology Instructor Dennis Bell, º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Assistant Professor of Physics Dr. John Anderson, and Dr. David T. Dockery III of the Mississippi Office of Geology published an article in the September issue of the "Journal of Paleontology."
The article, entitled "Larval to Adult Growth Stages and Paleoenvironment of Odontogryphaea thirsae (Gabb, 1861): A Late Paleocene Oyster from the Northern Gulf Coastal Plain, U.S.A." describes the growth stages and environmental preferences of an ancient oyster species that thrived in the shallow waters of the Northern Gulf Coast 57 million years ago.
Field expenses, publication costs and support were provided by a local geologist, the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Museum of Natural History, the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ College of Arts and Sciences, the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Physics, and the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓÆµ Department of Biology.
