º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Athletes Give Back to the Community

University of Louisiana at Monroe athletes will take part in the "Great American Clean Up" as they volunteer along with other citizens of the Monroe area. The "Great American Clean Up" is a national event that the City of Monroe is participating in Saturday, March 15.

The athletes will meet at the Farmer's Market across from J.S. Clark Magnet School with other Monroe citizens and be deployed into various areas to pick up trash and clean up standing water. Over 150 coaches and athletes from º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ have signed up to volunteer for the day. Everyone is invited to participate in teh clean up.

This is the second year that º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ athletes have participated in this particular event, and the fourth community cleanup event. Team º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ became interested in this community service project after the mosquito problems in the past affected their practices. When they heard about the "Great American Clean Up Day," they knew it would be another great opportunity to give back to the community.

º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ athletes will also be participating in National Water Clean Up Day in the fall where they will be cleaning Bayou Desiard.
